Hi, I'm Jill, founder of Read for a Cause. I'm an attorney by day and mom/wife/daughter/sister/friend by night. But throughout the week, I try to tuck away little morsels of time and energy and collectively use them to do some good in the world. And that's how Read for a Cause came to be...
Reading books with my two boys has always been one of my favorite things to do. As a parent, I appreciated books that taught a lesson but were still fun to read... because you can only read a poorly written book about nothing so many times, right?
I hand wrote (and illustrated, albeit poorly) the initial versions of each of these books with no intention of expanding distribution to anyone other than family. But then the idea of Read for a Cause arose: why not sell these books to support and promote organizations who embody these stories' lessons and positivity?
And here we are. With the unwavering support of my family (especially my husband: I love you!), my books have taken a life of their own. Now, will they become best sellers? Probably not. Will I make a lot of money? No. Will I become famous? Nah. But those aren't the important questions.
The important question is whether this venture will enable me to give back to some of my favorite organizations... and whether hard work, patience, and perseverance can turn an abstract far-fetched dream into reality. With your help, I can tell my boys that the answer to both of these questions is "Absolutely."
And that answer, my friends, is why I am incredibly grateful for you. For making all of this a reality and for giving back, one book at a time. Thank you, thank you,
thank you.
Read for a Cause promotes childhood literacy and charitable giving. Each of our eight books is dedicated to a specific non-profit organization whose mission embodies the values our stories seek to inspire. In short, we try to read more, do good, and give back one book at a time.
